The First historical reference to the use of crystals came from the ancient Sumerians. Sumer was an ancient civilization founded in the Mesopotamian region of the Fertile Crescent, situated between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Sumerians were known for their innovations in language, governance, architecture and more — they are often considered the creators of civilization as modern humans understand it.
These ancient Egyptians used lapis lazuli, turquoise, carnelian, emerald, malachite and clear quartz in their jewelry, from bracelets and brooches to necklaces amulets. They used them for everything from alternative medicine and protection to improved health and combating evil spirits.
The word 'Crystal" comes from the Greek word, ice. It was believed clear quartz was frozen so solid that it could never melt. Amethyst means "not drunken," and in its earliest use, it was worn as an amulet to prevent drunk behavior and/or hangovers. Hematite comes from the phrase "for blood" because of the color it produces when oxidizing. The Greeks believed this would make them strong in war by rubbing it on their bodies before battle.
Jade was a highly value stone in China and some Chinese made chimes to warn of spirits and to represent those who had been fallen during wars or part of their ancestry.
Crystals and gemstones are almost found in all religions and in the bible, from birthstones to healing and protection and even in the koran where the 4th heaven is composed from carbuncle also known as garnet.
The start of when people started to believe in these crystal powers was in 1609 a gentleman by the name of Anselmus de boot, a physician to Rudolf II of germany Told people that any virtues of a gemstone has is due to the good or bad angels presence. The good angels would give a special grace to the gems, but the bad angels would tempt people in believing it was just the stone that gives power. They believed that all gems, crystals and stones must only work if the people who use them believe in god. Later on Thomas Nicols expressed that no stone could not posses any powers like thought in the past which triggered lots of experiments in the 19th century. Most experiments proved that these gemstones hold no power, that all things were done, if they worked by the person and or gods that possess them. The crystals and or stones had nothing to do with it.
The 80's became the date where crystals re-emerged into society with many tribe cultures still using them for healing purposes. Jade was then used again by the Chinese for kidney healing. Then followed by in the 90's as another introduction of yoga, Buddha practices on a global scale and a way to combat all illnesses, sickness, protection and inspire those to be more in life.
Do the Crystals work?
As the facts state above, They work if you believe in them. Just as someone needs a bible to believe in religion a stone carries the same weight, when we evaluate the story of each crystal and what it was used for it gives reason to believe they do or don't. In life we find objects from mother earth all possess powers. We ourselves possess these powers and give everything a vibration. Good or bad. All things come from matter. When we decide what matters we create our world. That is how you decide if a crystal works.
In all religion, beliefs, tales and history we realize the Crystals are a icon we can imagine to possess such powers. With our intent we can charge or increase the energy in ourselves and around us. These beautiful crystals allow for hope, change, cure, and a understanding of our daily miracles. With these wondrous natural crystals they allow us to shine just as beautiful as they are...Natural, Unique and waiting for someone to believe in us....
